Further Evaluation of the Base Stability of Hydrophilic Interaction Chromatography Columns Packed with Silica or Ethylene-Bridged Hybrid Particles

چکیده

One of the fundamental attributes a liquid chromatography column is its stability when exposed to acidic and basic mobile phases. However, there have been relatively few reports date on hydrophilic interaction (HILIC) columns. Here, we report results evaluations carried out for HILIC columns packed with ethylene-bridged hybrid or silica particles using accelerated conditions, employing 100% aqueous pH 11.3 ammonium bicarbonate phase at 70 °C. Under these primary mode failure was loss efficiency due formation voids resulting from hydrolysis particles. We investigated dependence surface area both unbonded sulfobetaine-bonded stationary The show clear trend increasing as decreases. Several commercially available that are recommended use high-pH phases were also evaluated. times 50% initial ranging 0.3 9.9 h. Columns containing unbonded, diol-bonded had longer lifetimes than amino-bonded sulfobetaine-bonded, hybrid-coated, superficially porous

Phenylene-bridged hybrid silica spheres for high performance liquid chromatography†

Highly monodisperse 1,3-phenylene-bridged hybrid organosilica spheres (m-PHS) were synthesized by co-condensation of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and 1,3-bis(triethoxysilyl)benzene (1,3-BTEB) using dodecylamine (DDA) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as templates. In this method, three important factors are the surfactants, the ethanol–water volume ratio and the TEOS/1,3-BTEB molar ratio. T...

Column switching analysis with packed-capillary columns in gas chromatography.

By introducing sequentially connected two packed-capillary columns, a wide range of volatile compounds were successfully separated in gas chromatography. The hyphenation of two packed-capillary columns of 1.0 mm i.d. was accomplished using a conventional 6-port valve, where the temperature of each column was individually controlled in the respective column ovens. These columns were prepared w...

Hydrophilic interaction chromatography

In the early 1990s, hydrophilic interaction (liquid) chromatography (HILIC) emerged as a new separation method. HILIC is becoming increasingly popular for the separation of polar compounds in aqueous-organic mobile phases rich in organic solvents (usually acetonitrile). It has become important for the separation of pharmaceuticals, neurotransmitters, nucleosides, nucleotides and other compounds...
